Pictures by Simon Armstrong – Graduate Fashion Week 2019
They were several categories at Graduate Fashion Week, and they were a few winners after the conclusion of day 4. Below is a list of the major winners.
The big winner was Brian McLysaght, of Edinburgh College of Art, who won three awards, including the prestigious Christopher Bailey Gold Award. His collection is made from 100% sustainable and biodegradable wood, and “inspired by the role of clothing in 20th Century decolonisation movement”. He also won the conscious design award and the Hilary Alexander Trailblazer award. Definitely one to watch.
Edinburgh College of Art continued it’s strong showing by producing a double winner – Alexandra Fan, who won the Womenswear award and the David Band Textiles Award.
The Menswear award went to Greg Brears, from Birmingham City University, for his utilitarian workwear collection.
Hannah Stote from Bath Spa University took the Catwalk knitwear award
Rosie Baird, another Edinburgh college of art graduate, won the George Catwalk to Store Award for her collection inspired by storytelling in Scotland.
Last, but not least, of the big winners was Ivy Lan, from Savannah College of Art and Design, Hong Kong. She won best international fashion award, impressing the judges out of the 40 global universities in her category.
